I am a retired Air Force navigator with 22 years military experience. Followed by 25 years’ experience in private industry working for IMP Aerospace. Responsibilities include program manager of small programs ($10k) and large programs ($25M) in the Aerospace industry. Responsible for developing business proposals, implementing earned value cost control reporting system, and overall program management to meet contractual cost and schedule goals. Major programs included: design and development of the Sea King CH124B program; two Satellite harness programs; and the manufacture of complex metal components and wire harnesses for the Canada Arm program. These activities required extensive travel while managing two widely separate offices.
I was appointed Director of Quality at the IMP Aerospace plant in Amherst to trouble shooting and identifying systemic issues in the plant and take corrective actions. Actions included: assuming responsibility for control of Engineering and Quality personnel and implementing and achieving approval of an ISO9004 Management Quality system.
I have been member of the Melvern Square and Area Community Center Board of Directors for over 35 years; as a founding member, as a chairman and currently now the Director responsible for developing Financial Proposals and managing building maintenance. I have been an active member of the Catholic Queen of Heaven for 44 years. During that time, I have volunteered on the Parish Council as both a member and a chairman. I have been a member of the Greenwood Credit Union for over 35 Years.
Education: BEng from Nova Scotia Technical College, 1970.
Bruce grew up in Middleton where he returned to practice Rural Law for 55 years after studying at McGill University (BSc) Dalhousie (LLB) and London School of Economics (LLM) and has been a Credit Union member for over 30 years.
Bruce comes with a wealth of experiences having served on many boards such as Nova Scotia Barristers, Western County Bar, Annapolis County Bar, Nova Scotia Land Surveyors Association, Annapolis Valley Exhibition, Annapolis Valley Highland Games Association, Nova Scotia Minor Hockey Association and is currently a Board member of the Trans County Transit Association. Now retired, Bruce, over the years, has served as Solicitor for the Town of Middleton and the Municipality of Annapolis, as Small Claims Court Judge, Legal Aid Council for Acadia Student Union, and Judge of the Canada Pension Plan Disability Appeals Court.
Bruce also Coached Provincial winning Minor Hockey teams for Bridgetown and Bridgetown High School, played with CFB Greenwood Pipes and Drums for over 30 years, is a current member of the Paradise Historical Society and Paradise Community Hall. Bruce received the $10,000 NHL award for Minor Hockey Associations on behalf of Bridgetown Minor Hockey. He is also a life member of the NS Historical Society, and the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland so comes with a wealth of knowledge in many areas.
Nancy has previously served a three-year term on the Board for Valley Credit Union. She has been a credit union member for many years with accounts for both personal and business.
Nancy has always been involved in both community and work-related organizations. During her 30 years at Acadia University, she served on a number of committees for both the university and union. Some of the committees included Status of Women, Union Negotiating Committees, and taught Union Workshops, to orientate members to the Union. Nancy is currently a member of the Doctor's Committee in Canning. This is a committee to find a doctor to replace the retiring doctor in the community. Nancy has also served on a community committee to get a fire department located in their community.
As a business entrepreneur, Nancy feels she understands the needs for not only a community-based financial institution but one that can meet the needs of both business and personal banking requirements. Nancy enjoys working on committees and continues to further her knowledge of the credit union.

Prior to joining the Valley Credit Union, Richard was a member of the Newfoundland and Labrador Credit Union through a volunteer sport organization he managed.
Richard is a member of the Kentville Rotary Club, a voting member of the Canadian Red Cross, and a member of their Nova Scotia Provincial Advisory Council.
Richard brings many years of skill and experience to the VCU Board of Directors. He has 41 years of experience in the financial services industry, including 36 years with CIBC, of which 25 years was a commercial/corporate banker. Richard spent 10 years as a member of the Board of Directors of a national sport governing body. He volunteered with the Canadian Red Cross 15 years, predominantly in the areas of corporate governance and fund development. Richard also spent 5 years as a member of a Board of Directors of a professionally managed not-for-profit recycling company, whose mandate is to employ consumers with mental health challenges.
Reginald has previously served on the Shelburne Community Business Development Board (CBDC) for nine years. He served on Church and Exhibition Boards as well as the Yarmouth Hospital Foundation Board for five years and was the Chair of the Investment Committee for two years.
Reginald has an understanding of Board Governance and business operations, which is an asset, and an interest in community organizations. He was a consultant with IG Wealth Management for 31 years and currently runs a stand-alone rural office and built a successful practice with no compliance issues.Nancy has previously served a three-year term on the Board for Valley Credit Union. Vernon recently retired from the provincial government, and he was active as local treasurer for over 12 years. He was a Treasurer for Local 4 NSGEU and served on the NSGEU Finance Committee for many years.
Currently, he is on the Lawrencetown Village council. He was president of Clare soccer for a term and believe volunteers truly help a community thrive. He is currently working for a small business in Bridgetown.
Michael (Mike) has been a business client at Valley Credit Union for over 25 years. He is an active member of the community and is a Commissioner for the Village of Kingston. Michael is currently on the Board of Directors for the Credit Union Centre.
Michael is a Chartered Professional Accountant and owns his own public practice, Michael Bishop Accounting Limited, located in Kingston and has recently expanded to Greenwood.
